Since 1967 the facilities that comprise Electronics Instrument Services (EIS) have played a critical role in supporting the research and teaching missions of Indiana University, in particular the College of Arts and Science. EIS was founded to enable users in realizing their visions for unique and innovative research instruments, an undertaking that continues to this day. With expertise over a broad range from component level to programming, knowledgeable EIS staff are well-equipped to handle the requirements of creating and supporting instruments for scientific research and instruction. Instruments produced by EIS have assisted IU students and faculty in making significant, visible contributions to research from tabletop experiments to various national and international laboratories. With several convenient locations on the Bloomington campus, EIS can quickly respond to the electronics and instrument needs in ways that simply would not be possible by relying on outside sources.
